The Call to Devotion

Writer's picture: Sri OppeciniSri Oppecini

In life’s chaos, I pause to see,What fleeting joys have bound in me.No wealth or fame can soothe the soul,When yearning whispers, "Find the whole."I strive to rise, yet fall and stray,But now is the time—no more delay.

Youth’s distractions once held my heart,While age reminds me to restart.Amid the noise, I hear the call,“Release the fears that build your wall.”Let ambition and pride now yield,To love’s pure path, the sacred field.

Attachments pull, their grip is tight,Yet deep within, I seek the light. The mind rebels, demands control,But devotion anchors the restless soul. It’s not in wealth, nor grand display,But in surrender, I find my way.

I crave not applause, nor fleeting fame,But Krishna’s grace, His holy name. With every misstep, I turn, I yearn,For peace in service, where fears unlearn. The joy I seek lies not apart,But in the stillness of my heart.

( Inspired by the 6th chapter of 7th canto of Srimad Bhagavatam)
